World Premier Van Horne Exhibit

Jul 1 - Sep 30

First Public Appearance In Almost A Century

The owner of the Island Estate, Sir William Van Horne, was a gifted painter and, prior to World War I, the owner of Canada's largest private art collection. Take a unique journey into the man and his times thru the World Premiere of the Van Horne Art Exhibit. The Curator of Canada's largest railroad museum, Exporail, has carefully chosen a selection of Van Horne's paintings, added banners to explain their history and meaning, and created this one-of-a-kind art exhibit which will be shown first on Ministers Island.

Admittance to the exhibit is included in the cost of an Island Day Pass which ranges from $16 for students and seniors to $18 for adults. Beyond the exhibit visitors can tour the historic Estate buildings, hike the 20 km of picturesque Island trails, and drive across the ocean floor at low tide, currently the only way to reach Ministers Island. Due to the tides Island open hours vary daily. Open hours and ticket purchases are available online at the Island’s website
