Kov Nordic Spa

KŌV is a Nordic spa inspired experience located just a few minutes away from the resort town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea. What makes KŌV unique is that it offers a private spa experience, the first of its kind in New Brunswick. When guests book a session at KŌV, they get exclusive, private access to all the facilities for their entire allotted time. Guests can choose to have a fully guided experience with their hosts or enjoy a private experience. During the session, guests and their groups can access the wood-fired cedar barrel sauna, jetted whirlpool spa/hot tub, and cold plunge tubs. Three cold plunge tubs are available for those who want to participate in the entire thermal cycle ritual. The wood-fired cedar hot tub is included in the four-hour bookings and can be booked as part of a custom booking for smaller groups or shorter bookings. Guests can also experience the cold phase of the thermal cycle ritual in the cove, where the tides and weather permit. As the spa sits on a basin of the Bocabec River, the little cove enjoys a twice-daily refresh from the Bay of Fundy as the tide comes in. Guests are also invited to enjoy the Lagom Lounge, KŌV's indoor rest area that they can use if they choose not to be outdoors by the fire due to inclement weather. The lounge is comfortably furnished, where guests can relax with herbal tea, read a book, and rest before resuming another thermal cycle experience. KŌV features one private washroom and shower room for its guests and three outdoor rest areas by a wood fire in a cozy Adirondack chair, closer to the Bocabec River and next to the custom-built fire cauldron. There is also a fire table near the main amenities of the sauna and hot tubs, as well as a meditation platform near the hammocks and chairs thoughtfully placed in the trees.

Starting in St Andrews, you will have a chance to experience hand-made chocolates from McGuire, who import cocoa beans to produce award-winning treats. Your guide will then take you to St Stephen, known as Chocolate Town, where Ganong's has been located since 1873. Canada's oldest candy and chocolate company has a retail shop as well, right next to the Chocolate Museum. A visit is a must, to learn more about how they are made. And how about finding another kind of treasure to bring back home as a souvenir? This tour includes a stop at two of the most amazing antiques shops in Charlotte County. Multi-day Songbirds and other Winged Wonders of the St. Andrews Area and Quoddy Region

Songbirds, Seabirds, Raptors, Shorebirds, Residents, Migrants. The St. Andrews peninsula and environs provide a wonderful location to find, watch and identify up to 300+ species of birds. The diverse geography and landscapes of Charlotte County and the lower Bay of Fundy results in both passerine and aquatic bird habitat and feeding areas. You will spend time on the shore, in a marsh and a variety of woodland settings. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate You will be traversing a variety of terrain that may or may not have established footpaths. Sturdy footwear that is also appropriate for wet/muddy terrain is a necessity. Tidal Trek: Beach Crab Grab

Grab your rubber boots and help us to gather important scientific data on the local green crab population and contribute to research about invasive species in Canadian waters. Special treats and surprises are certainly in store during this immersive science learning experience that includes your Fundy Discovery Aquarium day pass! The Huntsman is able to offer this 2-hour adventure – in cooperation with the moon and the world’s largest tides – right outside of our Fundy Discovery Aquarium. Our target catch is an aquatic invasive species that has come to the shores of the Bay of Fundy.

Walk Between the Tides with Huntsman Marine Experiences

Animals and plants that live in the intertidal zone – the land that is exposed when the tide is low – are some of the hardiest in the world. These marine creatures are adapted to survive major swings in environmental conditions. Imagine…..one minute they are exposed to the drying air; the next minute they are under cold seawater. In winter, temperatures on the shore can drop to -30 °C and in summer temperatures rise to +30 °C. Who are these tough creatures? Join Huntsman Marine’s Resident Naturalist to explore the Bay of Fundy intertidal zone and uncover the diversity that call this area home. Bring your boots as we wander in and out of tide pools to peer under the rocks. What we collect, we will take back to the lab for a closer look. Participants will learn to observe like a biologist.

You will have the opportunity to feed some animals, learn about our animal care protocols to keep the animals healthy, including the Life Support Systems that filters and recirculates our pumped ashore natural seawater. Some of our Aquarium animals are only found in our behind-the-scenes tanks! You will also learn more about the broad array of Huntsman activities, including research and education. The animals themselves are always changing Behind-the-Scenes based on Aquarium activities, so there is always something unique to see and learn!

Citizen Scientist Marine Cruise with Huntsman Marine

Join Huntsman educators on this unique 3.5-hour experience modeled closely on our education programming success aboard the Huntsman research vessel Fundy Spray. During this experience, you will help collect live animal samples and oceanography data that are used to assess local environmental changes. Our Huntsman educators will need your help setting the plankton nets to catch microscopic plants and animals that form the base of most marine food chains. We will lower the invertebrate drag to bring animals from the seafloor community to the surface to have a deeper understanding of the Bay of Fundy. Once we return to the Huntsman, the experience will continue in the teaching lab, where you will have the opportunity to use microscopes and take a closer look at the marine life living in the Bay of Fundy.

This Huntsman Marine – Encounter with Nature™ provides an immersive marine biology experience with a full schedule, having one activity flowing into the next, and will include evening sessions. 5 days / 4 nights / 11 meals The Lower Bay of Fundy region has some of the richest marine life on the east coast of Canada. This exploratory Encounter with Nature™ multi-day experience will provide hands on classroom & lab sessions to learn about the biological adaptations of marine life found in the region before you explore a wide variety of coastal environments to discover these species for yourself. Come and explore some of the best sites with our expert marine biologists. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Low to Moderate You will spend time on local shorelines and intertidal areas that can be rocky at times. There are no defined paths and exposed rock may be covered with seaweed that causes slippery surfaces and hides solid substrate underneath. Sturdy footwear is a must and should also have some water shedding properties. HIGHLIGHTS - Collect a variety of ocean species first hand from several Bay of Fundy habitats - Learn more about your collected specimens close up in a lab setting - Interact with a world-renowned scientist who has discovered and described more than 80 marine invertebrate species new to science
